My name is Chelsea and I studied Costume Cutting and Construction in College, in 2007. Since then, I have contracted as a costume cutter for a local theater, and have worked from home, doing alterations and various custom orders, including bridal and graduation.
I started Chelsea Celeste Designs back in 2013 when a photographer friend asked me to make her some photography props. Starting with newborn props, I soon after got into maternity gowns, which was a niche that had much demand, but no one to fill that need. Handmade, couture maternity gowns kept me busy for the two years to follow, but in 2015, shortly after I had my 4th baby, I decided to start up a new business called Gracefully Birthed, specializing in birth and postpartum wear. This was when I made the decision to put Chelsea Celeste Designs on the back burner.. but I couldn't stay away from my passion for too long..
Having mentored various designers over the years, with special requests and sewing questions filling my inbox every day, I made the leap into pattern making, hoping this would give other designers the resources to take their businesses to the next level. Now, I continue to make the odd gown collection when I feel inspired and I take on a few custom orders per year, but pattern making is my new love, because I have the freedom to design whatever I want, and share it with those who are just as passionate about sewing as I am!
So browse through patterns, if you have access to a sewing machine, or consider my mentoring, if you have a project that you need help with, but don't know where to start. Then, make your way over to the learning library to take your skills and business to the next level!
