Have you ever
wanted to meet other local creatives, but just don't know where to start?
In fall 2017, I had the wild idea (I get these lots) of hosting a retreat for local photographers, models, hair and makeup artists. It was one night away, with two days of shooting.
Here's how I set it up
Normally I would make up a flyer, but for this, I just make a facebook event, and had it linked to my facebook page. Then, I posted the link in the local photography buy and sell group, as well as our Tuesday's Together group (a marketing group for business owners).
I opened up 15 spots, and sold all 15 in the first two days, with a 5 person wait list.
Location: Canmore, Alberta. Beautiful mountain scenery, and only 2.5 hours from Red Deer.
Accommodations: Two condo sweets with 3 queen beds and full kitchens in each, with pull out couches. This condo was beautiful, brand new and well priced.
Price: $100 including accommodations for one night, and food.
Food: I checked to see if there were any food allergies/preferences and then planned the menu around it. Then I did a big grocery run and made sure we had plenty of food and snacks for everyone.

I thought that everything went really well, except for our only maternity model not showing up. So if I ever do it again, I will probably find some local "models" to come out for the day.
I would also plan it for two nights and three days, because one night and two days just wasn't enough!
